Flock taking Flight!

The summer is finally here, and with it comes the start of the highly anticipated high school season for the OPA Jays Baseball organization. This past weekend, we officially kicked things off with a full slate of intersquad matchups between our talented high school teams — a weekend that not only set the tone for what’s to come but also showcased the incredible depth and potential brewing within our program.

Over the course of two days, our fields were buzzing with competition, energy, and a clear display of what the OPA Jays are all about: development, grit, and elite-level baseball.

Saturday: Competitive Fire from First Pitch to Final Out

We wasted no time getting into the swing of things on Saturday, featuring a dynamic trio of games that immediately highlighted the strength of our younger squads and rising upperclassmen.

  • 15u White vs. 16u Stegent

The first matchup saw two aggressive squads square off with 16u Stegent looking sharp in all facets of the game. Meanwhile, 15u White held their own, battling until the final out and showing maturity beyond their age.

  • 15u White vs. 15u Blue

The sibling rivalry between our 15u teams did not disappoint. It was a battle of contrasting styles — Blue with steady defense and White with explosive offense. The tight scoreline kept everyone locked in, and both squads came away better for it.

  • 16u Stegent vs. 17u Cullivan

The day closed with a marquee matchup featuring two veteran squads. 17u Cullivan, led by some of our most polished talent, had their hands full with a disciplined and fearless 16u Stegent team that refused to back down. The game was competitive from start to finish — a sign of just how ready these players are for the spotlight.

  • 17u Scout vs. 15u Blue

The 17u Scout team, known for their high-level prep talent and college attention, took on a scrappy 15u Blue squad in an exciting matchup that allowed our younger players to test themselves against seasoned competition. The heart shown by the 15s and the leadership of the 17s made it a highlight of the day.

Sunday: Even More Heat on the Diamond

As the sun rose on Sunday, the intensity didn’t let up. Four more matchups gave players and coaches even more to be excited about as we head into the official season.

  • 16u Jones vs. 15u Red

16u Jones showed a lot of discipline at the plate and poise in the field, while 15u Red impressed with their aggressive offense and athleticism. It was a great early test for both teams and provided valuable reps for our younger players.

  • 15u Red vs. 17u Cullivan

One of the most exciting parts of our intersquads is watching our younger guys rise to the occasion, and this game was no exception. 15u Red didn’t back down from the veteran 17u Cullivan group, and while the older group showed their experience, the 15s walked away with some important lessons and momentum.

  • 17u Cullivan vs. 16u Jones

In a rematch of older vs. younger, both teams played clean, fundamental baseball. 17u Cullivan showcased their depth and game IQ, while 16u Jones held their own with some big moments on both sides of the ball.

  • 17u Cullivan vs. 17u Scout

We closed the weekend with a Main Event clash between our two top 17u squads. This game had everything — pitching duels, clutch hits, diving plays, and two dugouts full of guys pushing each other to be great. It was a true reflection of the culture we’ve built at OPA Jays.

A Weekend That Set the Tone

This opening weekend was more than just a collection of games — it was a statement. From 15u rookies to seasoned 17u leaders, every team showed why the OPA Jays are regarded as one of the premier baseball programs in the region. The talent level, the intensity, and the competitive edge on display were undeniable.

As we head into the official start of the high school summer season, there’s no doubt:

We’re ready.

Stay locked in with the Flock all summer long — we’re just getting started. 🐦

Great Day to be a JAY!
