Opening Day: The 2026 JAYS Fall Scout League Is Here

Fall baseball in Houston hits different.

The weather finally breaks, the summer travel grind is over, and the guys who are serious about getting ONE PCT BTR are still out there working. That's who the JAYS Fall Scout League was built for.

On Saturday, October 17th, we kick off year 3 of the 2026 Fall Scout League season at Faith West Academy in Katy.

What Is the JAYS Fall Scout League?

The Fall Scout League is OPA JAYS' in-house competitive league for high school players in the 2027–2030 classes who want more than reps. They want exposure. Six JAYS teams compete across two divisions over a five-week regular season, and the top teams advance to a playoff weekend to crown a champion.

A Varsity Environment, By Design

This league is built to mirror varsity baseball. Every roster mixes the 2027, 2028, 2029, and 2030 classes, and teams are drafted by Senior Team Captains, not sorted by age.

That means a freshman might be facing a senior who's already committed. A sophomore might be battling a junior for the same spot in the lineup. Nobody gets protected by an age bracket. When the playing field is even, you either sink or swim, and that's where real development happens. It's the same challenge these players will face when they walk onto a varsity field in the spring, and the guys who learn to compete here are ready when it counts.

Rules Built for Development

The league uses adaptable rules designed to keep players healthy and the games competitive:

  • Pitch count limits: Arms are protected all fall. Pitchers compete hard without being overextended in the offseason.

  • 4 Runs per inning limit: No runaway games. Every team stays in it, games flow smoother, and more players get meaningful innings.

College Coaches Are Confirmed

This is what makes it a Scout League. College coaches  are confirmed for opening weekend, with coaches from every level, D1 JUCO, D2, D3, NAIA, and D3 JUCO having attended in past Fall League seasons. These are programs that have come out to Fall League games before because they know they'll see players worth recruiting.

Over the last three years, more than 30 JAYS players have committed to play college baseball. Behind every one of those commitments was a coach who watched that player compete in person. Fall is when college programs are evaluating and building their next classes, and this league puts our guys right in front of them.

Meet the Divisions and the Storylines

American Division

  • JAYS Blue went undefeated in the regular season last year, then came up short in the playoffs. Perfect in the standings isn't the goal. A Flock Cup is.

  • JAYS Columbia was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. They got a taste of it and want more.

  • JAYS Red is looking to rebound after finishing near the bottom of the standings. New draft, new season, new mindset.

National Division

  • JAYS Purple is the defending champion. Everyone is chasing them.

  • JAYS White missed the playoffs on the final day of the season. That one stung, and they'll remember it.

  • JAYS Green is also out to rebound from the bottom of the standings and has something to prove.

Follow Every Game on GameChanger

Every league game is scored on our Fall League GameChanger, with live scores, full player stats, and a league leaderboard updated all season. Track the batting race, see who's dealing on the mound, and follow your player's team even when you can't make it out.

What College Coaches Are Watching

It isn't just the radar gun or the exit velo. Coaches watch:

  • How you carry yourself after a strikeout or an error

  • Your pregame routine. Are you prepared, or just showing up?

  • How you treat your teammates, coaches, and umpires

  • Whether you hustle on every ball, every inning

This is why we hold our guys to a standard: full uniform, jerseys tucked, hats straight, no phones in the dugout. The little things get noticed.

Come Out and Watch

Opening Day only happens once a year, and we want the stands full. Parents, siblings, grandparents, former JAYS, and anyone who loves baseball are welcome. Bring a chair and some energy, and come watch these guys compete.

Want to be part of the JAYS? If you're a player who wants to compete, develop, and get in front of college coaches, we want to hear from you.

See you at Opening Day. Let's get ONE PCT BTR.
